I find this article interesting beacause there is sucha debate on the use of embryonic stem cell research in Missouri. The bill was voted on and pasted to protect stem cell research in the state, but many activistist are not agreeing with the outcome. What really is surprising is that they are ok with the use of adult stem cells for research and treatment but they are completely against the use of embyronic, they are both stem cells and are not the same but if you are fighting against one why not fight for both? With all the money that the group is raising they are hoping to turn around the ballot and make changes to the bills wording which is another thing the group is fighting for. The wording on the ballot is something that they believe to be misleading to it’s voters. http://www.scienceprogress.org/2007/10/missouri-matters/

1. My writing process is just begining, i have picked my topic and now am begining to organize all my thoughts and then follow the example on how it should be done. Then revise it using the revision questions mentioned in the chapter.

2. The advantages on outlining are that they let you get all of your thoughts in one place and organized before you write. Also they allow for clearer thoughts to me made rather than just making them up as you go.

3. Look at your draft as a whole. This allows you to pick up on things that you may have missed.

Ask revision questions to help you locate other problems. Helps you see things that need to fixed or changed in some way.

Check for final errors. Lets you change any errors that may have happened.

4.The exploratory argument paper identifies many major positions on an issue and explains them through summaries and analysis of the rhetorical situation. It paves the way for the position by allowing you to see possiblepositions on the issue and then make your own decisions on the issue.

5. Some advantages to peer review are that others can always have suggestions that can make your paper better. They also provide immediate feedback.

1. The subscrtibtion type databases are very trusting sites that give you all the title, author and all of the needed informantion about the article. Also many of them you have to have a password to even be able to access them. The web articles don’t go through a editor before they are posted on the web either. Many of the databases have both the abstract and full text available to you. Web articles should really be used unless they are credited.

2. A bibliography is a alphabetically arranged list of the sources you have decided to use for your topic. An annotated bibliography is when you add annotations to your bibliography to help visulize the sources you used. By using this you can bring back thoughts and insights into that source and how to use it in your paper.

3.Creditable sources are ones that are associated with an organization that is recognized in the field, sources that are listed under a reputable domain, the source is published in a print or online journal that is peer reviewed, the online source is duplicated in print, the source is accessed by a large number of people, ones that are not directed mainly be extremeists, the evidence is not stacked to represent one point of view, and ones that are edited and documented.

4. You would create a tentative plan for your research to keep yourself on track and make sure your research is guided and structured. This would help you to make sure all of the points and ideas are gathered and used like you wanted. This plan is like the backbone to all the research process, giving you a way yo keep everything in line and orderly.

5. Plagerism is when a writer deliberately uses someone elses’s words, ideas or thoughts without giving credit to the source. The use of quotations and citing information used from others, also by making sure you differentiate between your ideas and those of others is a surefire way to make sure you won’t be questioned about plagerism.

Pozner in her article sees Rosie O’Donnel as a true leftism side in many issues that are prestent in today’s debates. She uses many examples from her times on The View and many issues that she faught and argued for. Rosie presents another side to many issues that would usually never be said on television or in many kinds of media, but this presentation makes people think about issues in other ways and can show different sides that views may feel the same about. I think that Pozner is presenting what many people may not see, by saying that Rosie says things that may be a little harsh sometimes, viewers don’t get that from anywhere really other than her. By the rating going up when Rosie was on The View clearly shows that many viewers were at least hearing the converstions, they may not have agreed with them but at least the other side of things is being said and heard. Which may in turn bring out more people like Rosie to present issues that many would not say anything about.

In “Fade to Blonde” i think that Alvarado is very upset with unnatural blondes making themselves fit the part of society that is supposedly more favorable than brunetts and any other color or hair. Her attitude is that your cultual and ethnic backgrounds are something you should embrase and celebrate, not try to fit into mainsteam society and make yourself look like everyone else. By going blonde and making herself see the other side of things in the “blonde persepctive” she sees what the benefts are like nice store clerks and more attention from men. In the end of the essay she decides to go back to being a brunette because being blonde was to much work and to much to keep up with as well as it’s not herself. She didn’t feel at home being blonde, she is nautrally a brunette and she thought she should stay that way and embrase it.

When the shooting happened at Virginia Tech the media immediately used the word shooter as a reference to the killer. This word as a reference to the killer stood as indecisive with readers because they would not call him a killer or a murderer but rather a “shooter”, when in reality he was all of these things. Even though the other words are not as nice sounding they all can be used to reference him. There was no mistaking about what happened at Virginia Tech so the word murderer would have been a good justification for what happened.

I think that people that feel that the words used in news and media for this event would agree that the use of language that they used was slightly skewed and that the word murder should have been used. Readers that agree I think would be in the same boat and agree that more concise language should have been used rather that sugar coating it, we all know what happened.

I think that this issue common ground will be found that will make the stories truer and seem less sugar coated in the end. My background and beliefs I think are ones that many people have as well and will see the same point of view that I do. In the end the issue of using less harsh wording is something most people would want to see anyways because it gives a more realistic point of view than what we get now from the news and media.

I think that the issues with word usage in media something that we are going to have to deal with for a while because some people don’t like the harsh truth and would rather have it skewed to make it sound not as bad in the end. I need to learn other peoples view on why they would rather have alternate words used in media rather than what would make the stories truer. I think I could be convincing on this issue because I want to know the real truth of the matter and not what makes it sound not as bad, the more you know on the situation the better you can form your opinions and decisions on the situation rather than have the media do it for you by making it sound nicer.

Media and news today have made many views suppressed to real world situations by making the actions of others not so violent in there usage of words used to describe what is going on. I think that by giving more of a true perspective on issues viewers and readers alike will be better off making there own conclusions and judgments on different issues in our world today

Almost all of my answers to the questions were on the consensual side and just a few on the adversarial side. This style fits me because I don’t like to have arguments much at all, sometimes they are necessary but if am argument is not needed I don’t see why we should have one. This style deals with thing in more of an indirect and is more passive that the opposite adversarial style. The only adversarial style answers for me were I like conclusion, I favor individual oppinions, I am primairly logical and I favor abstract ideas. Other than thos few listed all the rest where in favor of the consensual style.

Williams-Brice Stadium, formerly Carolina Stadium, was first constructed in 1934 by the Works Progress Administration. In 1934 it seated 17,600 but now has undergone a number of expansions and revisions over the years, with the largest prior to the 1982 expansion coming in 1971-72. A donation from the estate of Mrs. Martha Williams Brice helped boost the capacity then from slightly more than 43,000 to more than 54,000. Mrs. Brice’s husband, Thomas H. Brice, was a Gamecock football letterman and her family operated the Williams furniture Company in Sumter.
